"Other well known lesbians" reference

[edit]

I question the veracity of the source that claims Thelma Todd was a lesbian, and suggest her name be removed from this article. The Todd biography "Hot Toddy" by Andy Edmonds makes no reference to this but does chronicle her numerous hetrosexual activities. Nor are there any references to her being homosexual or even bisexual in the various histories written about the Kelly-Todd comedy team in numerous books about Hollywood stars of the 1930's.````

I deleted it as unreliably sourced, weasel-worded OR. Should have been done long ago. Quis separabit? 04:57, 17 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

birth date

[edit]

The plaque on her crypt says 1871; the biographical lede says 1868... 67.60.108.191 (talk) 13:42, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Note from page 9 of Matthew Kennedy's 1999 biography of Dressler (now cited in the article):
"Leila Koerber's conflicting birth dates range from 1860 to 1873. Most sources list 1869, but her baptismal record and 1894 marriage certificate indicate 1868. Her death certificate lists 1871. The most reliable date is 1868, since it was recorded close to her birth. Leila shaved one or more years off her age later in life."

Dressler's Father

[edit]

The note that her "German " father served as an officer in the Crimean War is somewhat puzzling as Germany was not in this conflict. Should this perhaps be a Prussian fighting for the Ottoman Empire? The comment deserves clarification of where the father was from and, if he was indeed in the Crimean War, who was he fighting for?--Stephencdickson (talk) 22:43, 8 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
